About

Spam and safety is a growing problem. To improve safety and the quality of the app, we began using FaceTec and I was tasked with creating badges and entry points to get users to verify their account.

Goal

  • Create a visual callout in the form of a badge for users to identify verified profiles

  • Create entry points to prompt users to verify their accounts

  • Block certain features from being used until a user verifies their account

Challenges

  • Some users prefer to remain anonymous and may be hesitant to verify their accounts

The Badge

To improve safety measures and minimize spam, we began verifying users via Face Tech and granting them verification badges on their profiles. This lets other users know that the person they are talking to is who they say they are.

For the badging, I designed a simple and classic ribbon with a checkmark. It’s a common design and easily recognized.  placed the badges in several places : the locals grid, chat, user profiles, and Swipe dating profiles.

Entry Points & Blockers

I placed several entry points throughout the app to allow users to verify their accounts. For extra protection, we allowed users to set their chat settings to only allow verified users to message them. If an unverified user tried to message a user with this restriction set, they would be met with a blocker and requested to verify their account.
